Of the three present annexes the two closest to the Asplund Library are demolished and the New Library is inserted in the cavity.

The New Library complements the rigid geometry of the Asplund with a softer form which springs from its back side, stretches the length of the site and then turns, skirting the edge of the hill, and culminates in a tower against Asplund's Rotunda.

Asplund's "bride" is draped in a metal mesh, either attached to the concrete skin, hanging from it, or stretching from it outward, letting light down to the lower levels on the side of the hill.

The four parts that compose the new extended library (Asplund, New, Annex 3, Bazaar) bond into a unified urban compound, while maintaining their unique identity.
